Six remain at 18U GOLD

OKLAHOMA CITY --- Six teams remain as the ASA 18U GOLD National Championship completed day five of action of the ASA Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City on Friday. The winner’s bracket final will feature the So Cal Athletics (San Clemente, Calif.) and the AZ Desert Thunder (Tucson, Ariz.) who are both undefeated at 5-0.

Pitching has led the way for the So Cal Athletics as four of out its five victories have been shutouts while their offense has proven quite powerful outscoring opponents 31-3. A 4-3 victory over KC Peppers earlier on Friday was the closest contest for the So Cal team in bracket play.

For the AZ Desert Thunder, it was an exciting entry into the winner’s bracket final with a 5-4 triumph in nine innings over hometown crowd favorite Oklahoma Athletics. Through five games they have outscored opponents 25-8 and have had three consecutive games won by one run.

From the loser’s bracket , four teams will battle on Saturday morning having to win three games to reach the 4:30 p.m. championship game. OK Athletics will open the day facing Texas Impact Gold at 8:30 a.m. on field #4 while Texas Glory-Shelton and the Atlanta Vipers-Giles will square off at the same time on the stadium field. The winners will advance to play at 12:30 p.m. in the loser’s bracket final game.
