WPSL All-Stars shutout USA Blue to garner split
6/17/2001

Los Angeles, CA---The WPSL All-Stars picked up a 1-0 win in the second game of the night to garner a split with USA Softball. Amy Kyler pitched her first professional career no-hitter in the 1-0 shutout.

USA pitcher Jennifer Sharron (Agoura Hills, CA) and Kyler battled in the pitching circle for seven complete innings allowing only one hit between them.

Olympian Kim Maher opened the bottom of the second inning with a double down the leftfield line for the All-Stars. She then advanced to third on a failed pick-off attempt by USA catcher Jenny Topping and eventually scored on wild pitch by Sharron. Maher's double was the only hit allowed by Sharron in the game.

USA Blue will now take off the next week before they travel to the Canada Cup in Vancouver, B.C., June 30-July 6. USA Red will be in competition at the U.S. Cup in Honolulu, HI, June 21-25. All USA games will be broadcast live via the internet on www.usasoftball.com.
