Oklahoma City, OK ---- The UCLA Bruins continued to be the unanimous choice at the top team in collegiate softball with the voters this week after dominating its competition at the UNLV Classic. UCLA defeated three ranked teams by a combined score of 23-3 to remain atop the poll this week.
California, Arizona, Oklahoma and Washington stayed the same to complete the top five. The biggest movers in this week’s poll were Florida State and Tennessee. The Seminoles jumped six spots to No. 10 after keeping its unblemished record intact this week and Tennessee advanced to No. 12 after taking the title at the New Mexico State Kick-Off Tournament.
DePaul tumbled from No. 13 to No. 25 after posting a 1-3 record in its opening weekend and Oklahoma State fell out of the poll after a 2-3 start to its season. Texas State proved it belonged among the top 25 after defeating then No. 21 Fresno State and then No. 24 Cal State Fullerton. With an 8-2 season record the Bobcats enter this week’s poll tied with South Carolina at No. 23.
