ASA Coed Major Slow Pitch National Cancelled in LaGrange, GA due to Hurricane Ivan
Oklahoma City, OK---The Amateur Softball Association announced today that the Coed Major Slow Pitch National Championship scheduled for September 17-19 in LaGrange, GA has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.
The LaGrange Parks and Recreation Department met with the Troup County Emergency Services on Tuesday and were asked to cancel the event due to the impending threat of Hurricane Ivan.
Hurricanes have now been the cause of three cancellations of ASA National Championships this season. Hurricane Frances caused the ASA Men’s Modified (9) Man National Championship to be rescheduled for October 8-10 in Lakeland, FL. The tournament was originally scheduled for September 3-6 but was cancelled due to the forecast of Hurricane Frances.
The ASA Men’s 35-Over Slow Pitch National Championship scheduled for September 10-12 in Altamonte Springs, FL was cancelled due to a hotel restriction that requires all hotel rooms be opened for Hurricane relief workers.
