OKLAHOMA CITY, OK--Patrick Fleming, who became the 33rd president of the Amateur Softball Association this past year, has stepped down from his position as President to pursue other career opportunities.
After a recent career change, Fleming found it difficult to dedicate the time that was needed to fully complete his duties as ASA President, therefore prompting his resignation.
Fleming has been an ASA Commissioner for the state of Iowa since 1993 and will continue in this role. During his tenure with the ASA, Fleming served as a Regional Director for the Mid-America Region and was a member of the ASA Board of Directors from 1997-1998. He has served as the chair on various committees within the ASA including Slow Pitch Playing Rules, Special Events and Foreign Relations. He served as Team Leader for the USA Softball Men's National Team at the Pan Am Qualifier in Venezuela.
Per the ASA Code, former President G. Pat Adkison of Rainbow City, AL has been named as the acting ASA President until an election can be held in November at the ASA National Council Meeting in Winston-Salem, N.C.
