OKLAHOMA CITY, OK --- In the opening weekend for Hall of Fame Qualifier tournaments, the Arizona Storm (Glendale, Ariz.) outscored opponents 28-5 en route to the HOF Qualifier 12-Under tournament title. The AZ Storm will now look to continue their success qualifying for the ASA/USA Girls’ 12-Under Class A National Championship Finals in Aurora, Colo., August 1-7.
A 7-1 overall record, they opened with a decisive 10-2 victory against the Valley Stompers (Danville, Calif.) followed by a 7-0 shutout of the Shamrocks (Leesburg, Va.). A 4-1 victory over the Krushers (Santa Clarita, Calif.) moved along their title hopes as they slipped by the California Grapettes (Ceres, CA) in a 1-0 win. Working their way through the top end of the bracket, the Storm then battled through a three game match up against runner up Mizuno Rapid Fire (Flower Mound, Texas) where they lost 1-0 but battled back with 3-0 and 3-1 wins to take home the hardware
The tournament saw faces from across the U.S. with 12 states represented and 24 participating teams.
