PORTLAND, OR --Tacoma Dodge won the ASA Best of the Northwest Men's Major Slow Pitch Qualifier on June 11-12 going undefeated in four games and beating Warpigs/KTI of Seattle, WA, 28-15, in the championship game Sunday.This was the second year in a row that Tacoma Dodge won this qualifier.
In four games, Tacoma averaged 24.5 runs in winning its first ASA Major Slow Pitch Qualifier this year and earning 60 points for first place.
Warpigs won its first game, 17-15, before losing its second game to Tacoma Dodge, 21-8, to drop into the loser's bracket.
In the loser's bracket, it won three games to gain the championship round to face Tacoma Dodge. Warpigs finished with a 4-2 record followed by A-1 Frontier (2-2), Vancouver USA (2-2), Trust Mortgage/RallyTime (1-3), Haras/APC (1-3), Dobbs Fox/NW Climate Controls/Gatorline/TPS (1-2) and Pizza Mia/DeMarini's (1-2).
Damon Bleiler of Tacoma Dodge was named the qualifier MVP and was joined on the all-tournament team by teammates Darren Idler, Brian Berndt, Mark Dennis and Kenny Elwood. Also named all-tournament were Danny Clemens, Clayton DeJeong and Brian Higgenbotham of Warpigs; Brian Hancock, Sean Pressley and Jimmy Jones of A-1 Frontier; Erik Olsen and Ryan Meyer of Vancouver USA.
