GREEN BAY, Wis. — Forty teams gathered in Green Bay, Wisconsin August 4-7 to compete for the Girls’ 12-Under Northern Fast Pitch title. A tournament full of talented twelve-year-olds, the Quest (Crete, Ill.) was awarded the championship trophy after ending the tournament with a perfect record of 7-0.
Quest proved its winning status early jumping ahead in game one beating Chaska Black (Carver, Minn.) 10-1. In game two, Quest’s offensive efforts did not lighten. They were able to score 11 runs only giving up one against the Centennial Stampede (Red Lino Lakes, Minn.). The Topeka Energy (Topeka, Kan.) was able to withstand the Quests’ offensive game, but Quest was still able to get on the board winning the game 1-0. Game four proved to be just as close, as the LP Prowl (LaSalle, Ill.) barely fell victim to the Quest in a 2-1 decision.
The Quest went on to play in the semifinals against the Muscatine Steam (Muscatine, Ia.) pulling out a 3-2 win. Advancing to the Finals, the Quest’s offensive game made a comeback beating the Flash (Olathe, Kan.) 6-0, moving on to gain the national title.
