OKLAHOMA CITY, OK-- The Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA), the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States, has announced it has extended the deadline for open Olympic tryout applications to August 1.
The tryouts, which are open to any female U.S. citizen, will be hosted in eight cities across the country. Any player(s) selected from these open tryout camps will earn an invitation to the Women's National Team Camp in September.
Host cities are: Killeen, TX (August 17th); Midland, MI (August 24th); Altamonte Springs, FL (August 24th); Hayward, CA (August 24th); Wichita, KS (August 24th); Philadelphia, PA (August 24th); Fullerton, CA (August 24th) and Elizabeth, NJ (August 31st).
Individuals can apply to tryout by downloading and filling in the Application Form or by requesting an application from their local ASA Commissioner. Application forms will need to be returned to the ASA National Office in Oklahoma City, along with a check or money order for $75.00, by the August 1st deadline.
If you are having problems downloading the application, contact Brian McCall via e-mail or phone (405) 425-3463.
Once the USA Softball Women’s National Team Selection Committee has reviewed the applications, they will assign players to a specific tryout site – and all efforts will be made to place a player within her top two site selections. Players are solely responsible for ALL expenses incurred related to open tryouts.
