Dynamites Badside golden

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. The 2009 Amateur Softball Association of Americas (ASA) Hall of Fame Tournament Series ended Sunday with the Oklahoma Dynamites Badside from Edmond, Okla., taking the 18-Under Championship. The Dynamites Badside defeated Sports Reach (Louisville, Ky.) 3-1 in the championship game at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.

While the Dynamites Badside went undefeated for a perfect 6-0 record, Sports Reach finished the national qualifier tournament at 6-2. The two teams prevailed in a field of19 teams from 11 states including Arizona, Georgia, Kentucky, South Dakota, Virginia and Washington.
Teams joining the Dynamites Badside at the national championship include the New Mexico Sundancers (Albuquerque, N.M.); Richmond Ruckus (Richmond, Va.); Blaze Blue (Everett, Wash.); Tucson Elite Larry (Tucson, Ariz.); Collins Hill Eagles (Lawrenceville, Ga.); San Antonio Nightmare (San Antonio, Texas); Missouri Rattlers (Columbia, Mo.); Georgia Xtreme (McDonough, Ga.); and Tucson Scramblers (Tucson, Ariz.).
Two teams including Sports Reach qualified for nationals but declined a spot.
The series, which consisted of four separate tournaments in the month of June, started June 5-7 with 12-Under action. The champions from the 2009 HOF Tournament Series are the 12U Frost Comets 96 (Chattanooga, Tenn.), the 14U Ohio Slammers (North Canton, Ohio), 16U Arizona Killer Bees (Mesa, Ariz.) and the 18U Oklahoma Dynamites Badside.
The HOF Tournament and the ASA Gold National Qualifier lead up to the international KFC World Cup of Softball 4, which brings six countries including 2008 Olympic gold and silver medalists Japan and the United States to Oklahoma City, Okla., July 16-20. The USA Softball Mens National Slow Pitch team will also play July 18 against Canada in the first ever Border Battle.
Other 2009 tournaments at the HOF Stadium include the ASA Gold National Championship in August and the Hooters Championship Series in October. More information on tournaments can be found at www.asasoftball.com/tournaments.
