Renovations to the ASA Hall of Fame Complex continue and
look to be on schedule for the 2003 Big XII Championships May
1-4. The renovations are in part to a bond issue passed by the
citizens of Oklahoma City in October of 2000 and funds
provided by the Amateur Softball Association.
Work on
the stadium and complex will consist of adding 519 new parking
spaces and the construction of the new Hall of Fame Plaza and
Sports Festival Esplanade. The Esplanade will be a 300-foot
long, 40-foot wide walkway for vendor tents and Fan Fest
activities during the Big XII Softball Championship and the
NCAA Women's College World Series.
In addition, 3,000
additional permanent seats will be added along the first and
third base sides of the stadium, as well as new bathrooms. The
additional seating will increase the total seating of the
stadium to 5,000. A new upper concourse connecting the north
fields with concessions and bathrooms is also in the
works.
Two additional fields with 300 permanent seats are also in
the works during the renovation.

The ASA Hall of Fame Stadium will be undergoing a face lift
in the next couple of years, thanks to a bond issue passed by
the citizens of Oklahoma City in October of 2000.
Work on the stadium is scheduled to begin in July of 2002,
and will consist of adding 519 new parking spaces and the
construction of the new Hall of Fame Plaza and Sports Festival
Esplanade. The Esplanade will be a 300-foot long 40-foot wide
walkway for vendor tents and Fan Fest activities during the
Big XII Softball Championship and the NCAA Women’s College
World Series.
In addition, 3,000 additional permanent seats will be added
to along the first base and third base sides of the stadium,
as will new bathrooms. The additional seating will increase
the total seating of the stadium to 5,000. A new upper
concourse connecting the north fields with concessions and
bathrooms will also be built. Construction is to be completed
by May 2003.
In phase II of the renovation, two new fields with lighting
and covered concrete stadium seating will be built west of the
existing complex. Plans are also in place to refurbish the
current north field with permanent seating.
