Election to the ASA National Softball
Hall of Fame and Museum

Election to the ASA National Softball Hall of Fame and Museum is the ultimate honor in softball.

Nominees can be elected in the player and non-player categories. Players nominated must be retired at least three years from active play at the national championship level and have been named to at least three ASA All-American teams, including two first-team selections.

All players who competed at the national championship play in fast pitch, slow pitch and modified pitch can be nominated for the Hall of Fame.

Players must get at least 75 percent (nine) of the votes cast by the 12-member ASA Hall of Fame Committee to be elected. Players can be submitted only three times. This can either be consecutively or at different years.

No more than five players can be elected to the ASA National Softball Hall of Fame. One player, however, can be elected in the old-timer category if there is a nominee who gets the required number of votes.

A nomination form must be completed and sent along with a scrapbook and other supporting documents highlighting the nominee's career to the ASA National Office by September 1 of the year submitted. All nominations will be considered at the ASA Annual Meeting by the ASA Hall of Fame Committee.

Nominations can be made only by ASA commissioners, past presidents and commissioner emeritus. No more than two nominations per year can be made by these individuals.

Fast Pitch:
Pre 1951: If a player competed from 1933 through 1950, he or she will be judged on the material available during those years because All-American records aren't complete and second-team All-America teams weren't started until 19
1951-1985: To be considered a player must have been named to three All-American teams. If a player has any combination of five All-Star teams, he/she will be considered. Nominations should include how the player performed at the national championship level, including listing statistics and if the nominee led the national championship in a specific category (example: batting champion).
Post 1985: To be nominated, a player must have been selected to a minimum five All-American teams and /or a combination of seven All-Star Fast Pitch Series/All-American teams.

Slow Pitch:
Pre 1982: A player must have been selected first-team All-America twice and second-team All-America once.
Post 1982: A player must have been selected first-team All-America a minimum of five times and second-team All-America a minimum of two times. Any combination of nine All-Star Slow Pitch Series and All-American teams will be considered.

Non-players:
Nominees can be submitted in the following categories: umpire, manager, sponsor, commissioners and meritorious service, which can include any of the other listed categories. All nominees must be retired at least three years.
Umpire:
(1) The nominee must have umpired 15 years and in at least five ASA national championships.
Manager:
(1) Nominee must have managed at least 15 years and in five ASA national championships.
Sponsors:
(1) Must have sponsored a team or teams for 10 years and participated in four National Championship finals.

  • Host of National Championship
  • Special recognition received and/or other honors received for service to humanity.
Meritorious Service:
This nominee's contributions to softball must have made an impact at the national level and can include any combination of the above categories. In addition, years of service, being an organizer-builder of softball and financial contributions to the sport are also considered.

In these categories a total of 10 can be selected with no more than three in any one category.
