2007 Camps & Clinics
Iowa ACE Coaching Clinics (March 20 & March 22)
The Iowa Amateur Softball Association will be sponsoring two ACE (Achieve, Certify, Educate) Coaching Certification Clinics on March 20th in Des Moines (4-Mile Community Center) and March 22nd in Cedar Rapids (Mt. Mercy College - Donnelly Center), both from 7-9pm. The clinics will certify coaches and provide valuable training for the new or veteran coach. The video training certification featuring USA Olympic Coach Mike Candrea and members of the USA Softball Team lead topics on Principles of Coaching, Legal Issues in Sports, First Aid, Practice Organization, Coach/Umpire Relations, and Coaching Sport Specific Skills. These clinics will be very helpful for leagues to help certify their coaches and improve the level of coaching for players of all age and skill levels. The Iowa ASA coaches registration is also included in the $25 fee for the clinic ($15 value) and Team USA Softball Instructional Video Tapes will also available at discounted prices.
Spring Leagues
Ames Girl's Softball Association Spring League for Girl's 10U, 12U, and 14U & High School March 31 April 1, 7, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29 & May 5 & 6.. Deadline March 16th. This league is for player/team development. No official standings kept and no awards given. It is designed to give your players and team an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming season. August 17-19, 2007 PFX Tour, Site: University of Iowa Softball Fields, Iowa City, IA. I Club is currently working with Dot Richardson, the Director of the Women's Pro Fastpitch Tour and former Olympic player, to bring the PFX Tour to Iowa. Big softball names like Lisa Fernandez, Alicia Hollowell, Lovieanne Jung, Stacey Nuveman and many more would come to Iowa. Check out their website: www.pfxtour.com. Approximately 40 teams would be needed to hold this tournament in the following divisions of play: 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U and 18U Gold. Entry fee - $495 includes four-game guarantee, college exposure for players 14-18, entry to the professional game, entry to meet and greet the pros and autograph session, entry to opening ceremony, and entry for team coaches (3) to a coaches' clinic. This tournament will be ASA sanctioned, and proof of ASA registration and insurance is required.
