USA Junior Men begin preparation for 2008 World Championships

Oklahoma City, Okla. -- The USA Softball Junior Men's team will begin its preparation to the World Championship with a training camp January 23-26 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. The participating members of the national training team will report to camp on Wednesday and practice through Saturday before returning home.

Preparing for competition at the International Softball Federation VIII Jr. Men's World Championship, June 20-29 in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada, the Red, White and Blue are led by head coach Tim Lyon (South Jordan, Utah), and assistant coaches Gary Mullican (Yorba Linda, Calif.) and Scott Standerfer (Charleston, Ill.). Team USA finished fifth in the 2005 World Championships, tying their best finish in World Championship history. In 1993, they posted a 4-8 record and placed fifth as well.

ACE Coaching Certification Goes Online Oklahoma City, Okla. --- The Amateur Softball Association announced today that their ACE Coaching Certification Program is now available to coaches nationwide in a new web based format. Coaches who had an active certification as of 2007 can access the online system with their prior information and continue their certification beginning with the next appropriate level. New coaches can begin certifying online with Level 1. Coaches can watch the ACE Coaching Certification instructional videos and complete their certification tests at http://ace.usasoftball.com. The ACE (Achieve, Certify, Educate) Coaching Certification Program is a certification program, developed and designed to provide softball coaches of all levels - from beginning coaches to experienced veterans - an opportunity to certify as a coach with the ASA.

Competitive J.O. teams (those playing in tournaments) must register individually and will receive $5,000,000 liability insurance and $250,000 accidental injury insurance at no additional charge! The exact same program is available for youth baseball teams as well! TWO options are available, ZERO deductible for $11.00 per person and $250 deductible for $8.00 per person. ALL registering coaches and the manager will receive their own copy of the ASA rule book and each team receives an official ASA rule book! Click on the form below for more information.
