2005 Girls Fast Pitch Berths to Nationals

Accelerated Travel Teams

 

New change to the ASA National Code provides a direct berth to the USA/ASA A National Championships for every Local Association (Utah ASA is a Local Association) that registers at least 201 Junior Olympic teams the preceding year. The Utah ASA did register more than the minimum number of teams required and so the following is in effect for 2005.

 

Direct From State Championships:

1st and 2nd place receive direct berth to USA/ASA A Nationals in all five age groups.

                                                               (Three game guarantee)

                        18U     Columbus, Georgia                               August 1-7

                        16U     Sioux Falls, South Dakota                     August 1-7

                        14U     Owensboro, Kentucky                         August 1-7

                        12U     Aurora, Colorado                                 August 1-7

                        10U     Johnson City, Tennessee                       August 1-7

 

3rd – 8th place receive direct berth to ASA A Western Nationals in all five age groups.

                                                            (Three game guarantee)

                        18U     Oregon                                                 August 1-7

                        16U     Seattle, Washington                              August 1-7

                        14U     California                                              August 1-7

                        12U     Salt Lake City, Utah                             August 1-7

                        10U     Salt Lake City, Utah                             August 1-7

 

All other teams that play in the Accelerated State Championships have direct berth to:

                        BEST OF THE WEST Championships       July 29-31

                        18U – 16U – 14U – 12U – 10U

                        Resort town in Mountains at Prescott, Arizona

                                    (Not hot, like it is in Phoenix)

                        Entry Fee $300.00  -  Three game guarantee

 

There will no longer be an ASA Rocky Mountain Regional Championship in the Alpine Division in the odd number years. This is why the UTAH ASA has two direct berths to the USA/ASA A National Championships in each age group for 2005.

 

In the even number years there will be an ASA Rocky Mountain Regional Championship in the Alpine Division where each age group will receive one berth to the USA/ASA A National Championship. In 2006 the UTAH ASA will only have one direct berth in each age group to the USA/ASA A National Championships.

 

Your Utah ASA Commissioner has worked hard to achieve these direct berths to Nationals. It would be a shame if they are not used, and then possibly taken away from our association. It is certain that your team will qualify to play in one of these Championships at the end of the season, as long as they participate in the State Championship. So please make arrangements now with your team to attend whichever one of these Nationals that your team will qualify for.
