State Umpire Clinics March 13 and 14th Clinician – ASA National Deputy Director of Umpires – Larry Montgomery Larry Montgomery has been a member of the ASA National Umpire Staff since 2001. Prior to joining the ASA National Umpire staff, Larry was the UIC for Mississippi ASA. He has served as the umpire-in-chief at 20 ASA National Championships. You will enjoy Larry’s engaging southern personality. These clinics are geared toward new and veteran softball umpires alike. The clinic will feature rule changes and interpretations, umpire mechanics of both fast pitch and slow pitch, signals, game management, and more. Each participant will receive hands-on personal instruction throughout the school. Click Here for Registration Form Clinic Registrations (as of 3/12) ACE Youth Coaching Certification Requirement The ACE Coaching Certification is now required for all Coaches in the dugout or on the field for Teams that participate in Championship Play (State, National Tournaments, National Qualifiers). We encourage all coaches to take advantage of this excellent coaching training. ACE Coaches will receive the added benefit of receiving emails and blogs containing helpful coaching tips and coaching advice from Mike Candrea, well known coach of the University of Arizona Wildcats and former coach of the USA Women’s National Team. This is also an excellent way for leagues to certify, train and background check their league coaches. Other coaching certifications do not replace the ACE Coaching Certification due to liability insurance, increased insurance benefits, training and the background check that goes with the certification. For more information. NOTE - Coaches that are new to the certification and are taking this for the first time will take level one. Level two is for coaches that are recertifying after taking level one, and each additional level corresponds with another year of recertifying. Coaches must recertify each year and coaches that have taken level one and no more than two years have lapsed may take level two this year without reverting back to level one. Click Here
